Cost me 500 quid to buy, and 550 to insure. 1 litre, 4 gears... first car at age 20. The definition of ultra

6 months later, a cement truck crashed into me as I was driving it home from an MOT failure. Did me a favour, was put into a brand new Clio Extreme Edition for over a month, and the third party insurer paid me £750 for it based on its mileage and condition.

I remember very well how on cold winter mornings, starting the thing was a bit of a task, feeding the choke, feeling the warmth 10 minutes into the drive to work... The smell of the warm engine bay slightly entering the cabin.

Edit*
I remember the full story now, I kept the car as salvage, the cement company's insurer didn't want a fee for this, then sold it to a local guy for £150.

1995 Saab 900 SE 2.0 turbo. Inherited it in 2009 and I'm still driving it 7 years on. Nearly fully kitted out, just missing the heated seats.

I had a dodgy old MK4 Escort which I didn't really use on the road bought for £75 with no MOT then sold it for £250 when it passed needing nothing so I guess the first thing I drove around was this. Corsa 1.4 (High Torque............60BHP lol) Flair. Modified, of course, with gangster tints

I still have it but it's mid restoration & getting married earlier this month amongst other things means not much has happened to it this year. I had a fun 5 years sliding it round roundabouts before I took it off the road :)

Still only has 90k on the clock.

Looked better minus it's decals & bump strips :)

I passed in 2002 and I had 1993 Corsa as my first. It was bare bones as hell, not even power steering :)

I had a hairy moment with some wet mud on a sharp bend one morning. I narrowly avoided ditching it!

It was sold to a friend of my Mum's, who had previously blown the engines in 2 cars lol. I think she is still using it over a decade later.

My first car looked like this:

I'd love to be able to say it was a Mexico, but nope, mine was a 1.1 popular. Frankly, it was rubbish. 4 speed box with a very low top gear, which made motorway work a bit painful. Came with no car stereo, and the tape deck we dumped in it was not much better.

1999 Astra 1.6 LS! Because the LS was the important bit.

I put some alloys on it (came on steelies with hub caps) spent more on the radio than I did the actual car. Did some other tacky bits (coloured window light switches) and thought it was all well cool innit.

I've got pictures buried somewhere on the NAS at home. It was bright red. After I sold it I would still occasionally see it driven around.

Honda Civic EX 98 - 1.6 16V Vtec

P.S.: I didn't like the neons and blue lights, but my girlfriend "made" me do it for an event.

I must dig out a picture of my Hyundai Lantra Jura - Car cost me £250 with 20k on it and in customary Vince style was written off driving it straight over a roundabout.

Remember the song Original Pirate Material - The streets? This car was the definition of the sound system banger

It was actually a really quite good first car, it has air con, all electrics...A little 1.5 litre 8 valve engine that was a little peach. It was my 2nd or 3rd car where I decided to spend 10x what I spent on the car modifying it.
