Cool car.
I saw a Lotus Cortina MK1 on the motorway a few weeks ago. Had never seen one before.

No pics, but mine was a base spec Alfasud that disintegrated during the year that I had it - it was fun though !
those blue rears cost a LOT of they're originals..
What a beast...
1992 Rover 214 SLI poverty spec. paid £250 and I loved the thing![/QUOTE]
I see your 214 SLi and raise you a 214 SEi

Thought I was the DBs with the leather seats, alloy wheels, electric bits and bobs. Tbf, it was a much nicer car than most of my mates had.
Didn't last long though...
Some **** pulled out on me so I went to go around him and he put his foot down to block me. Long story short, as I was pulling alongside him I had to brake hard due to oncoming traffic and lost the back end. Took out about 20ft of hedges and fencing.
The guy didn't stop at the time but he came back a little later in a different car and had a good look (I'd moved the car off the road by this point so they wouldn't have known it was there otherwise).
Not my greatest achievement!
1999 306 HDI Dturbo. Bought in 2010, did most of my learning to drive in it, then did about 13,000 miles a year in it for three years until I decided I wanted to change to a quicker diesel and bought the 330d. To be fair to the French this 306 never missed a beat and didn't really need anything replacing other than normal consumables, but I decided I wanted new shocks and springs all round. Easily more reliable than the 330d and both had similar mileages and did/do the same commutes.
Sadly it's destined for scrap this year as it won't pass another MOT due to (believe it or not on a 306) rust. Shame really as the rest of the car, especially the engine, feel good enough to do another 100,000 miles without an issue
