it's nice to have some preserved like museum pieces, but they should be left stock.
I agree.

Ppl that spend that kind of time and money must be total fanatics, yet you would think fanatics would rather pristine stock examples. I know where theres a completely stock RS500 with only about three miles on the clock, that he could have bought for less than he's spent. And from a selling point of view it might not be everyones cup of tea now, if your a collector that is

My Dad used to have a Sierra Cosworth, but i was a wee nipper back then, a nice maroon one, little did i know back then he was driving around a beast of a car, come to think of it, i doubt he did, he used the sucker for work after a few years but the car ran until 156k miles he said, one SOLID car.
How i wish i had it now.

generally - if any car achieves a cult status, there will be the nutballs who have a mint 5miler in there garage that they've never driven and others that build concours winning tuned up show cars.

I've seen people put over £30000 into a single Mini which is mental.

You have to respect the quality of the final product though. If I won the lottery, I'd be after that cosworth ;)

Sod that, I'd do something similar with a Sapphire, I'd love a Cosworth, but, having driven a 3 door cossie, the Whale fin obscures the view of the rozzers.....

That is one amazing Cosworth though!

It'd be one for the collection for me. I'd have a saph for ragging time :D

If i won enough lottery cash, i'd have that lump in a Mk2 'scort never mind a Saph! :D. As DreXel says (and as i've always thought about concours cars) it wrecks them as soon as you actually drive the bloody things!. I prefer the 'logbook' (is it?) concours, where they can actually prove to be a working car and still in somewhere near show condition...

some of you seem to think Ian only owns this cossie to look at.

The owner does use the full power of the car etc.....it just get's cleaned again after every thrashing lol. I've aslso seen this car do plenty of runs at santa pod as well.

In that case I stand corrected. It did come across as a pure concours car though.

Sorry, but that's utterly gay. Why build a 400bhp Cossie, then just ponce about making it spotless, rather than driving the thing?

I want to take it for a good caning on a track and rape it till it begs for mercy. Then take it down some muddy lanes and give it back to the owner covered in ****.

What he said but I'd get a professional driver for a day so he show me exactly what it can do. Obviously I'd give it a damn good spanking as well.

The wing was only a removable option on the Escort Cosworth - it was like it or lump it on the Sierra. Ford tried loads of wing variations before settling on that one as the best compromise between downforce, drag and suiting the lines of the car.
Ford actually wanted the wing to be larger, but contructors regulations prevent this.

Good to see the car is actually being used as it should be. Didn't seem to make a lot of sense as a concours car. I kind of got the impression that generally they were meant to be as standard as possible, which this clearly wasn't if it's got 400hp.

One thing did occur. Why the stickers saying 405hp? Is that just incase he forgot how powerful it is? More to the point, what happens the next time he takes it for a check up on some rollers and the guy says it's developing 411hp?

As for the car itself. I know it's a good performance motor, but just check that interior. It's enough to make an AE82 look pleasant to be in.
Another point is just how fast it really is. Did anyone else see the E30 M3 review on 5thGear? The track time was actually worse than a new Mitsubishi Colt CZR (or whatever it's called, some jumped up 1.5 turbo hot hatch). I know that the Cossie will have twice the power, but I wonder how it really compares nowadays?
