Simple Broadband Wireless Router?

Hi,

My friend would like to get a broadband connection on her desktop.

She has a modern computer with a network card already installed and currently connects using a dial up modem and a long extension cable trailed through the house.

What is required to set up a wireless broadband connection for a single computer? She wants to get a router to be "always on" and basically does not want to run wires through the house to connect her telephone point to the desk top.

Does she only need to buy a wireless broadband router?

Does it simply plug into her telephone point with some kind of transmitter plugging into her existing network card or does she need a special wireless network card?

Sorry for being thick, I am new to this and the FAQs are very technical and do not appear to address the simple questions.

u gottit right a wireless router and a wireless pci card or a usb dongle...altho a card seems to be the best option many say,,,,

the router can sit at her telephone point and the card transmits from pc to router....some routers need to be configured with user details via cat5 cable first before final resting place

Many thanks for the reply.

Can you confirm that she needs a wireless network card and that her existing network card is no use?
