Hello.

I work for a construction company using a satellite office adjacent to site. We rent the office space which has provided us with a wireless network connection (as wired was charged per port!). So we have 5 towers with wireless dongles connected to the internet.

We need all 5 PCs to connect to a Synology NAS to share the buildings model. With a lack of wired network this became an issue...so...

We have created a mini wired offline network using an old sky router and an old netgear switch connecting our PCs and NAS. Slapdash!

This is working well however it is slow as the switch is only 10/100!

Could anyone recommend a not so expensive solution to this? As we'll only be using this setup for around 18 months.

I'd rather rely on 1 bit of kit such as an 8 port router?

Or, would using the Synology NAS as a DHCP server (is that correct?) and an 8 port switch work? Is this a reliable set up or would you recommend just swapping the 4 port switch for the 8 port and be done with it?

Thanks for any help.
