So who bought one then? (7900)

Not bad :D k|ngp|n is a man that can get the job done. He aint got the cards onto LN2 yet. OPP is having a little play with his cards too. On cascade.

Want to see what they do on air or water in a regular setup tbh. Give me an idea how good these cards are really are.

Thanks.

2 BFG 7900GTX in SLI...

3DMark03 = 34969
3DMark05 = 12277
3DMark06 = 8052 (?)

This with crappy ram, 4*512mb corsair value, i did order some corsair 2*1GB 3500LLPRO with the cards, but as i have to remove mobo to take off my zalman 7700 cooler which is too large for the LLPRO to fit (got cnps9500 also) then i'll wait a couple of days with that, right now i wanna game in the weekend.

It seems those with 7900GTX in SLI doesnt max out the cards in 3DMark06, looks like it's CPU limited, look at the system setups, at 2.5ghz the score maxes at around 8700, at 2.6ghz at 9000 marks, i got 4400+@stock 2.2ghz with crappy ram and get 8052.

So room for upgrading CPU if ya got SLI 7900GTX

and

Horray! Finally hit 9,000. Just had to tweak my CPU overclock some, I think I still have some headroom left in this Opteron.

3DMark06 = 9,016

SM2.0 = 4252
SM3.0 = 4274
CPU = 1926

12277 in 05 with 7900 GTX's in SLI is a bit low. would have expected more tbh. 7800 GTX's 256MB can get that...

Yea, or just a good clocking DC with 1MB cache. FX60 wouldnt be bad but a 4400+ clocked at 2800MHz would be alright.

Im still not conviced about the 7900 GT / GTX's. The X1900 XT gets my bet. Unless I got the money to get a couple of 7900 GT's or GTX's then it would be a different ball game.

24/7 game rig. Loads of services, network & firewal etc. In no way tweaked, no LOD cheats. I can't play futuremark :) Are your NV drivers set to high quality for a comparable number?

Interesting thread that hasen't been closed. ;)

Check out the Oblivion bench on that thread.

yes everythings set to HQ and optimisations off, and im getting oblivion on the 360 anyway :)

gave FEAR a go, 1024x768, MAX vid, MAX comp, and 4xAA (transparency SS)

min - 47
avr - 90
max- 231

click above for pic

not sure how this compares to other ppls cards but it seems pretty good to me. using the auto-detect gives me a min of 52.

Can you do a test at 1600/1200 or 1920/1200 or 1680/1050 please.

Testing at 1024x768 is pretty useless for that card.

min - 50
avr - 79
max- 168

1600 - HIGH, 4xTSSAA

min - 29
avr - 48
max- 108

1600x1200 - MAX, 4xTSAA 16xAF etc

min - 27
avr - 46
max- 110

deffiantely need SLI to have AA at that rez

That is some very good numbers there for a single card..Which drivers are you using ?

The old 7800gtx 512mb was only about 35fps avg on max settings.

I think that OcUK price on the cheapest 7900 GT model like the Leadtek one is fair. £258 inc VAT is pretty good. On par with other online stores, compared to the lowest 7900 GT models.

You mean you have found 7900 GT's for sale @ around the £200 mark? From a trusted store like OcUK?

Yes, from another trusted store... for £207. And for the record OCUK wasn't really a "trusted store" as far as customer service goes until late, it's only quite recently that they've started to get their act together. :)

Ah, ok. Never had any problems with OcUK my self in the past tbh.

OCUK have always been great... until you needed an RMA or a refund, and then they used to be very poor, me and a few mates had bad experiences in the past. But happy to say that now it seems to be getting a lot better in that department, only off grips is the price-hikes that seem to go on with some things. :)

To be fair to OCUk, they do normally end up with excelent prices for most things, but one cannot deny they like to charge extra for the early adapters. As seen with the R520 and thewn R580 release, OCUK were in excess of the competiotrs but now they er probably the best ion europe (without checking!).

I know the prices of the 7900s will fall pretty soon at OCUK.
