socket 757?

Ok... just in case that I'll decide to build a computer, some one has recommanded me to get the socket 757 intel something and have duel core cpu stuff...

could anyone explain what is good about the duel core? well all I see it is as a CPU that is extreamly expensive... = =

Do you mean 757 (Which doesn't exist AFAIK), 775 (Common for desktop machines), or 771 (Common for servers)?

Dual core will let you use more than one program at a time without any slowdown. e.g. you could encode a movie and play a game at the same time or if a program is designed to use dual core then it will go faster than a single core.

Dual core isn't that expensive, the AMD X2's are just over £100 and the Intel Pentium D's are only £70
