Hi all,

Finally the venerable Q6600 must die... mobo started to fail, ripping slowing down etc

I'm looking for a new system, and might even go for a pre built to save hassle.. however, I'm not much of a gamer but do a fair amount of photo & video editing and have big library of Bluray I want to rip for home theatre.

I've got an amount of HDD storage already, but will look at HDD/NAS separately, I came up with the below. - thoughts?

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Gaming + Editing, rendering etc. Get a 5820k (6 core, 12 threads) the extra 4 threads it has over the 6700k (4 cores, 8 threads) really does help. Especially as they are easily overclocked to 4.5ghz with a decent cooler.

GTX 970 or r9 380x are good 1080p cards and can be picked up pretty cheap now. Will do everything you need for casual gaming and rendering.

If you really dont do much gaming at all then as the above build something like a GTX 960 would do fine aswell.

The supplied AIO comes with paste and I think you could be spending too much on the case and sacrificing possibly getting a 380X instead.

thanks re paste :)

What is the benefit of the 380x if I'm not much of a gamer?

Re case - I've had a decent case (old cooler master wave) for years so dont mind a few extra $ on a case that might last 5+yrs

Hi, Sorry to jump on this thread but I was about to buy pretty much this build, minus the case (already have a Corsair 600T) and swapping the GPU for this one - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/xfx-...-graphics-card-with-hitman-dvd-gx-235-xf.html
But the cooler is out of stock can you recommend another one?
Thanks.

It does say all options in stock on the coolers page - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ocuk...-liquid-cooling-upgrade-bundle-bu-097-tl.html

Make sure you pick the correct intel retention system for the socket in the options on the page.

You might also want a - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/akasa-ak-fy320-3-pin-fan-cable-splitter-ak-fy320-cb-013-ak.html - to drive the two fans from one header.
