I'd like to stick a 500GB SSD in my (aging!) PC, and could do with a recommendation for something which would be compatible please..

I've got an ASUS P8Z77-V LX motherboard (link - https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8Z77V_LX/ ) with a very small empty slot labelled "PCIEX1_1", plus a few longer PCI Express 3.0 slots empty. I think I also have a spare SATA 6Gb/s slot...

Could anyone help me out - What's the fastest slot to use please, and any recommendations on a decent fast SSD to buy please ?

Thanks! J

Thanks a lot mickflinn, much appreciated ;)

Would using the 6GB/s SATA port be quicker than getting some kind of PCI adapter that would let me use an SSD like an EVO 970 please ?
Is the TEAMGROUP 512GB VULCAN SSD you linked a good fast one ?

Thanks again

You would need to use a pci-e 4 lane that your board doesnt seem to have on it so you cant use a m.2 adapter.

The Teamgroup ssd Mickyflinn refered you to is as fast as your board can handle.
