My haul for this sale is;
Xcom: enemy unknown
Borderlands the pre sequel
Red orchestra 2
Orion: prelude

Very happy with these purchases so far, but seem to have run out of missions on borderlands @ lvl 22.

Didn't buy a single thing. We were spoilt too much in past sales.

Well, there are still a lot of games I want to buy. But the thing is, Steam is no longer the best place to buy them.

Perhaps you're right - previous Steam sales were very heavily discounted, and we expect that now. The number of games this year reduced to £5 or less was far less than previous years.

But GOG and other places are now cheaper (sale vs sale).

Was wondering how well the Monster Summer Sale did, as many people called it terrible.

According to this article at Lazygamer, that uses Steamspy statistics, it still sold loads of games.
It's not surprising. Steam continues to get more and more popular. As it does, sales will decrease but the newcomers won't be aware of any other options. It's like when people buy things on sale that aren't a daily or flash deal.

And that's probably why the discounts aren't as great as previous years. Valve and the game companies know people will buy them regardless.
