Got my car back from the service and the garage wrote on the comments section of my service sheet that "both top suspension mounts roll flip in operation." What does this mean? :(

    Cheers

Best you get a description from the garage about that one, been doing suspension about 5 years and never heard of that before.

Sure you're reading it right? Dodgy mechanic handwriting perhaps?

Never heard of that one either. The top mounts are doing something, but I'm not sure roll flipping is it :D

It means your mechanic has been in the trade a long while as he obviously never went to school.

top mounts are what your suspension bolts into (you can see them on top of either wing under the bonnet).

They can't roll or flip though.

Could simply be scamming you to get some work with baffling technical names that actually mean sweet FA of course :D

Can a mount be rough in operation?

It's the closest thing I can think that would be, but not sure it makes sense!

Yes basically they grind when you turn the wheel, (bearings usually rusted up so it tries to turn on the spring perch instead)

Fair enough, I never really thought of a top mount as "operating", but there you go

It's the H that throws most people, that one he's accentuated the "hook" before bringing the pen down for the right hand vertical line of the H
