System not reading full amount of memory?

So you're running a 64bit OS and have tried everything but the bios and Windows cannot use / see the full 4 or 8GB? My friend had this problem with his 2x4GB modules and Win7 64bit. The solution? Re-seat the CPU. Job done.

Just thought I'd post this here in case anyone else encounters this odd problem

can't say i've heard it it, but will file it into the brain so thanks for sharing it, all knowledge is better shared, as odd problems are just that, odd....

Saw a few users have the same problem due to the heatsink being overtightened.

the memory controller is integrated into the cpu so missing memory points to pins not making contact/bent pins or as above an overtightened cpu heatsink that cuts off the signal from cpu to the memory banks

Yeah we laughed it off before but it does make sense! We'd tried everything from upgrading the BIOS, entering the memory settings manually and different modules...

Thought it was worth sharing
