    hi
can anyone please help with this problem, a friend of mine has just reinstalled xp home plus service pack 2, he uses telewest broadband with a webstar modem.

the problem is he can connect to broadband if he uses usb from pc to modem , but not ethernet from pc to modem , which he needs to use in order to connect his other pcs and belkin router..............

can anyone suggest why he cant connect via ethernet?

    many thanks indeed

    cheers

Well, if he hasn't already done it, he will need to install the ethernet driver from his motherboard disk.

And switch the modem off before reconnecting it using ethernet?

Check to see if the port is faulty, and check the cat cable for damage.
