Headers are the exhaust manifold and usually refers to one made from separate pipes as opposed to a single casting.

They have large gangs in China, who buy worn out old double mattresses from hotels, cut the springs out, repaint em, and then resell them in Europe. This is one of the main reasons of people falling asleep at the wheel.

What would be the point, if any of doing this on a 1.6 diesel? Can somebody please explain?

Removing the rear silencer (muffler) is fine and shouldn't affect an MOT as the MK6 has 2 silencers and it doesn't affect emissions, but it probably wont sound as great as your expecting it to sound being a diesel.

But before even contemplating modifying your first car, contact your insurers as you don't want to end up with invalidated insurance.
