Technically all MMOs are a grindfest, its merely a question of how well the MMO hides the grind. Mind you, I suppose I could widen that even further to include non-MMOs. Diablo for instance is essentially just a grind fest of killing mob after mob...I suppose the same could be said of most first person shooters too.

It was just a response to the guy who said "Aion is a grind fest in the plus 40 bracket". I was just correcting him ;)

So there I was, tired, beaten and in need of some womanly effection. I stumbled upon a bar in the district where the lady of the Tavern offered me Females, Men or both. I opted for the female.

Cut scene to some moaning from the lady...and then the game faded back in. My character stood there, no clothes apart from a small pair of undies. Nothing out of the ordin....wait a minute...WHY IS HE COVERED IN BLOOD?

Oh god....What Have I done? Did I kill her? No...Oh jesus, she must...it must...that...time..of...the..

To make matters worse, I no longer had a sword and shield, a good sword and shield I might add!

Has this happened to anyone else? Some prostitute running off with your weapons? Must be a bug I say.

It happened to me as well. I thought it was going to be the start of a quest or something, but you re-equipt automatically when you walk through the door. As for the blood, I assume it was already on your character and the devs didn't consider cleaning you up first!

Question guys - I am confused by this typically crap Limited Edition bonuses lark that is infesting more and more games now and making things even more complicated.

I bought the normal version of Steam for £30. Am I entitled to any bonus items? In the main game menu there is a DLC button that contains two items with a XBox Live like points cost of around 1200 something. What does that refer to?

Even Forza3 I found confusing with all the limited edition bonus rubbish, and apparently for DA you have to sign up for accounts and two different sites for some reason? I'm just confused about the benefits...

Kainz please ignore Dampcats post.
If you bought the Steam version you get access to Blood Dragon Armor and The Stone Prisoner DLC.
The keys for these will be held on your Steam account, just right click on your game and check the keys.
All you have to do is make a Bioware Social account, login in game and then goto the DLC section.
It will then forward you to a webpage where you can register your key.

Also in regards to Wardens keep, its a nice couple of hours of content and you get some fantastic armor for completeing it and one hell of a sword if your clever enougth to figure out where its hidden ;)

What?

That's *exactly* what i posted. Why the hell should my post be ignored?

Sorry mate, it was my bad. Apparently you should get Stone Prisoner and Blood Dragon Armour with every purchase. You might need to register on the bioware site, apply your cdkeys and then log in using the same account to your game.

The steam version does not list Stone Prisoner and the armour on its standard edition... although the blurb for other retailers says "ALL" copies of standard include them. Not sure what to make of that.

DampCat said:

The additional "Stone Prisoner" Quest and Blood Dragon Armour item are included as standard in all copies of Dragon Age: Origins.

So, i want to get this game, but i'm not really sure the differences between all the versions.

I'd want the game on steam ideally, can you add the retail version to Steam?

I guess if you can't i'll just buy it off steam, but what's the difference between retail and steam? I'm not bothered about extra items, but I see steam comes with some DLC. If the DLC is worthwhile (which people seem to say it is) I'd rather just get one version which has most/all (i have no idea how much there is :() so i don't have to mess round afterwards buying MS points or whatever they are, then buying the DLC.

Sorry if all this has been posted before, but it's a long thread :p.

You can't use the retail keycode on steam, unfortunately. I have the retail version, but haven't gotten to the point where the DLC becomes available, so I can't really comment on how good / bad / necessary it is.

Warden's Keep is £4.76 from the Bioware store (560 bioware points).

I bought the 'standard' edition on Steam, and the 'expensive' DLC is the 'Stone Prisoner' one, which as mentioned is included in both versions.

Anybody came across some glitch with shale?
I cannot talk to him anymore, as if I do it teleports me out the map and the only speech options are the same ones you get when you first meet him in the village

Clicking on reactivate him adds a quest, I have to reload in the end
Thinking about getting rid of him and having two mages, one heal and one attack

Also, on Steam, the CDKey without dashes is the one that's used to register the game, and the CDKey with dashes is the 'promo code' to get the DLC.

(Apologies if this has already been posted, but it took me a while to figure out last night, so reposting won't hurt)

Got neither of them first time. The armour didn't appear of the end bosses body. And the game didn't say, "If you leave without completing this quest you won't be able to do it later". Plus all the rewards are only for warriors. What about mages and rogues? I'll be rather ****ed of if I had actually bought it.

With the toolkit released, I say we get some OcUK modders to unite and create us some content :p. Think i'll be having a bash at the editor when I get back from my weekend away on Sunday.

Only glitch I've seen so far was the first time I met Morrigan - her head was completely black, I thought she was some kind of extremely well spoken darkspawn.

My only glitch was during character creation. My characters eyes disappeared, looked as if he'd already completed the ritual!

Just some thoughts etc..

Most important: My dog is called Fred, maybe it's down to something he ate ;)

Only one character made so far, an elf mage, and far from perfect - still that's part of what rpg's are all about.

60+ hours so far and now at level 12, or is it 11.

One or two minor glitches, nothing game breaking. Not a single crash, not once including some 12h+ sessions.

Slow load times, occasional pauses loading inventory etc: For me this only happens after spending a while in Denerim. Memory leak? I can't say but the slow down is typical of when the system is making frequent use of the swap file. Restart the game and all is well.

I must admit I was unsure about the game, unsure for the first 10 hours or so, mostly a matter of me getting used to the graphics, controls and play style. Things gradually started to fall into place and after 30 or 40 hours I started to consider the game a masterpiece, the Fade oh my.

DLC. I guess the DLC included for download is an anti piracy/ anti re-sale measure, I can live with this though I'm sure opinions vary. Is the other DLC worth £4.76 ? In all honesty at this point I don't care, the shear amount of content, overall quality and attention to detail - silly detail(1) - makes the game well worth the full Steam price imo, if you paid less I'd say you got a bargain.

(1) Anyone noticed in Soldier’s Peak that Shale has a permanent following of crows -:D

The game is not perfect but I find myself overlooking all of the, minor flaws. While I love the characterisations if I had to single out the one thing that impresses me most about the game it has to be the variation. Not room to room, door to door variation - though you are never quite sure what you'll find - I mean the occasional door or conversation and blam, never in a million years would I have expected that.

...
Thinking about getting rid of him and having two mages, one heal and one attack

Best thing I've done so far is team up with Morrigan. A mage tag team with Leliana for support and some random muscle is proving very effective. No specialist healer required.
