Indeed. If anyone thought Mass Effect had a lot of talking (I didn't!) DA:O take's the proverbial wee. Even I find myself skipping a lot of chat scenes.

i tend to skip a lot of the banter too, if the game had any more cut-scenes it would be a movie lol

oh and Alistair is a really annoying character.

cant decide which character to play, currently got a human mage that just got Morrigan in grp, a city elf rogue (going assassin) that just finished redcliffe and a city elf archer who i think just got Morrigan in grp too.

btw, how does one use the specialisation points on lvl up? my city elf rogue has one which i want to stick in assassin but dunno how. :(

It does? Really?

I never bothered with it, gave it to Lilianna.

I have a question, and im not being rude, im curious.

What was the point in powering through the game like you did? A bunch of your posts are indicating that you've missed loads of stuff, and now you've started again so you can play it properly? Is it just bragging rights?

Nah I just really wanted to see if they would be adding expansions like with baldur's gate.

At the end it answers that question for me.

My biggest problem though is that once I start it I get horribly addicted for a short while and have a massive urge to finish it as fast as I can. ( Which I did )

I got about 75% of the way through Mass Effect and forced myself to read every new entry in the codex, I eventually stopped and regretted it in the end.

I'm trying to appreciate all the effort they've put into DAO so I'm reading everything this time :D By the way, played 6 hours yesterday, very much enjoying it so far, I'm finding the combat very difficult and unnerving though as I'm completely new to the style.

Cheers man. Got to find this Wynne person then. I've cleared out the castle with the exception of the Revenant who I know I can't take just yet so I'm on my way out of the castle now just to sell off some stuff.

Some tips for fighting the Revenant, even at a lowish level:

1) Have a mage (probably Morrigan) learn Telekinetic Weapons. While active, this will give your melee guys a large bonus to Armour Penetration. It will help a lot.

2) The power just before that, Force Field can also be used to good effect in this particular fight; either cast on the Rev to take him out of the fight while you remove his air support, or on your tank to keep him alive longer.

3) You can open the front gates before engaging the enemy to get some backup from the knights if they survived the Zombie invasion.

You need to unlock them before you can assign the extra point into one, you either learn them from a character or from purchasing books. It might be a spoiler for some so i won't say where you can learn it, click the following link to find out:

This is my second RPG over the The Witcher. I was wondering whether the amount of talking in it was standard, glad to know it's not!

I miss the taverns in The Witcher though. It was great going down the Hairy Bear or Country Inn for some dice games.

They coulda done with a few more random elements like this. I've loved RPG minigames since Arcomage in the M&M series - I'd buy that as a standalone game, if I could. They probably spent a bit too much time fleshing out what they had rather than trying to include a million extras you're never gonna touch, but they may have fallen short of equilibrium there.

The dialogue, however, is still impressive - how they've voice-acted every line, and how smoothly it flows. Interruptions, I've noticed, actually interrupt people, rather than dropping a sentence in midair and waiting a second or so for someone to take the hint and pipe in with their own opinions of how that person is wrong.

I read the whole Mass Effect codex, some very interesting stuff in there.

I read bits of the codex on the go. When returning to camp it's feet up time with a beverage of choice and a good book, lol.

As for the talking, I do skip some and simply read the sub-titles but, I'm enjoying the voice acting.

I love all the chat, i've spent as long talking to peeps as killing stuff. Never played Mass Effect but I'm going to have to give it a go after this, might even re-install NWN for a laugh.

My missus keeps asking when I'll go back on wow but not until i've finished this a few times methinks.
