What's a realistic OC to expect from an evga super clocked acx 2.0?

I know it's a very open question but I haven't been keeping an eye on everyone's clocks and usually it's the people who run modded bios' and/or got lucky in the silicon lottery that shout the loudest about their OC.

Is 1500+ Core possible or is that reserved territory for the classified/HOF type of cards?

I would say you would be really unlucky not to hit 1450mhz with a 980ti.

My Gigabyte G1 Gamings hit 1560 and 1570 respectively, but they're custom PCBs - Not sure if the chips are binned.

I'd say the 1450s would be about normal for games such as The Witcher 3.

Kaapstad - How about a overclocking thread where we can collate boost clock running heaven or valley then asic rating and GPU core Volts + temp+cooling.

All good info to see if we can work out whether asic quality matters.

I'm considering getting a 980Ti but im unsure which to get. At the moment im considering the 980Ti Gigabyte G1 but i hear is that it can get slightly noisy when it has a decent overclock on it and a good fan curve to keep it cool. So i was looking at the Inno3D GTX 980Ti Hybrid instead with the hopes i could overclock just as much as the G1 and keep things slightly cooler and less noise!!

However i know the G1 has a custom PCB but im not sure about the Inno3D hybrid!

Which would you guys go for with overclocking in mind and noise and temps!

G1

I RMA'd my G1 due to coild whine. It was a cracking overclocker, almost +200 on the core and +800 on the memory. Sadly, I just couldn't tolerate the whine.

I now have a MSI and it's a great card, cool and quiet. I run it +100 / +200 and it hits 1440 on the core at that.

I have no idea regarding the Inno3D Hybrid.

I'm pretty sure that the Hybrid has a reference pcb but I'm sure someone would confirm. Wouldn't put me off tbh

Yea that's what i thought too! It certainly looks like a reference PCB from what i can see. Though i know reference cards still have been known to clock well for the 980Ti

I just don't want a too much of a noisy hot running card! So thats why the hybrid appeals to me! And cheers String!
Was the coil whine quite loud? Or would you say your sensitive to it such as it irritates you when you hear it? I'm abit worried about getting a annoying coil whine on my card! Though i guess i can get this from the hybrid too tbh lol.

They'll both clock well. Any difference between a good clocker and an average clocker wouldn't be noticeable gaming wise anyhow. If you're concerned about cool and quietness the Inno3D Hybrid would be the obvious choice.

Yea i guess your right mate tbh! Thanks for talking sense haha. I guess getting a extra 150Mhz on one card vs the other would be not very noticeable in games to the eye.

I'll probably end up going with the hybrid then i think! Cheers! Just need to get my credit card sorted

I don't think you'd see a 150MHz difference between any of them to be honest, especially on a stock Bios. If anything the Hybrid may even clock better than the G1 once you take the AIO into account.

That'd be nice, but there's no doubt about it, Asic quality - especially with stock cooler - does matter.
