What's the game like? i was really tempted but after hearing about the issues with it on release i decided to wait a little.

uksoldierboy, the issues were generally due to servers being inaccessible, as the game requires you to be online. From what I have read, they have updated their system and increased server capacity. And in the last week or so that I have been playing, I haven't had any problems connecting to servers.
About gameplay, it is generally pretty good. And having played the original game on the Amiga and SNES, things have certainly moved on quite a bit - for the better. Still, I am at the early stages of playing, so can't as of yet recommend it at full price. But having got it at sale prices, and as I enjoy the genre, I think it will be well worth it.
Here's a video I made earlier, it runs you through the Getting Started tutorial and should provide some idea of what to expect:
