I was looking into the same thing recently as my 4 year old console has finally given up the ghost (or I can't be bothered repairing it again) after several RROD repairs and 3 attempts to cook it.

The first repair lasted 12 months, the second lasted 3 months and the third lasted a day... it died on me during a critical part of Portal 2.

I'm going to pop out later and get a new 360 S.

The new console has an expansion port which has normal SATA connections so like Nismo mentioned, remove the old drive from its case and slide it into the slot. Thank you Microsoft for giving this some thought.

Thank for the reply Nismo I looked up on youtube and its easy to dismantle the old had drive casing and install the old HD into the new slim model.

agw, depending on the size of your old drive you might be better just buying the 4G slim and putting your old drive in. I have a 120gb drive from the elite so I'll be saving about £50 and won't be faced with the hassle of getting all my data off my old drive.
