It’s hard to say. If I was spending £2.5k that is what I would be looking at. It is a lot of money, but that system would Munson ever other build in this thread with a big stick.

To get a 3080 at RRP sign up for part alerts on Discord and Telegram. There are frequent supplies and stock lasts about an hour.

But is it really worth it over the 3080 itself

As a 3090 owner I don't think so just for gaming right now but I think that the 3090 will have greater longevity than the 3080 thanks to the extra VRAM. Look back and compare the GTX 980 with the Titan X. The latter is still a decent card; the former not so much thanks to the limited VRAM. However, for the price difference you may well be able to buy a next-generation GPU when they are launched. Your choice.
