So, fellow m43'ers - what do you use when looking to get a little of extra reach? I've checked the native m43 lenses for zoom options and they're all fairly expensive - particularly for someone who has just spent a fair bit on the basic kit (and has to justify spends to his new wife :D).

Would you suggest I consider a non-m43 lens and adapter? Of course, this opens up a large second-hand market for lenses as well.

I am going on holiday in 8 weeks and I'd like a longer zoom lens in the bag, just in case. I'm expecting my 20mm to turn up soon.

I've got the 45-175mm Panasonic zoom which I like a lot but is one of the more expensive options but is stabilised.

There are also the 55-200mm Panasonic which is meant to be a good lens as is the newer 45-150. Both again stabilised.

The 40-150 Olympus is a cheap and cheerful, but good option, but as Olympus M4/3 bodies have in-body stabilisation they have no stabilisation. These can be picked up for just over £100 as a bundle.

If you want serious reach the 75-300 and 100-300 are both nice lenses but are usually £300-400

At last a m43 thread! Will post a few later, but in the meantime, a kit list:

G3
In addition to kit lens:
25mm 1.4
12-35mm 2.8
45-200mm (a little soft but can't complain for the £90 it cost brand new!)

I took the 12-35 and 45-200 to Vietnam, brilliant portable combo, even if the 200mm is a tad soft.

I have a epm-2 with 14-45mm kit lens and 45-150mm and a Panasonic 14mm f/2.5 (which is tiny).

I tend to use the m43 camera as point and shoot/pocket camera. With the kit lens it fits in my jacket pocket, ski pants, summer shorts, hiking trouser without issue. I then put the tele in the other pocket. If I really want to go small then the Panasonic 14mm f/2.5 is tiny and very sharp.

I lust after some of the primes, the 150-300mm and 7-14mm zooms but i'm mostly spending money on the DSLR gear these days.

Not quite...

It is attachable to a BCD though :p :D

What makes me laugh is that with the housing its now nearly as big as my 5D Mkiii.

The Mkii in a housing...bloody thing needs its own postcode!
