thermal paste

Hi All

Just recieved my new Ryzen 5 CPU and was cursing AMD for lack of thermal paste, when i noticed (put finger in) some paste on bottom of fan.

Is that satisfactory? or should i still apply more?

Just spread it out or put some more.

The IHS on a CPU is not like a GPU chip, where it is imperative you cover every single tiny bit of the surface, as the IHS on a CPU is itself well an "Integrated Heat Spreader".

Even if you left it as it, it probably would make no difference, but either spread it back out using a credit card or apply a tiny bit in that area and let the installation process take care of spreading it out.

Whats the impact of having little/no paste? does the overheating mean the PC will crash? or, as i suspect, the cpu can burn out?

(not overclocking btw)

If u had little or none the cpu temps rocket. Quickly . when reaching a certain threshold the Pc will switch off
