Damn you quoting my post. I was going to edit the Fiat for the Toyota Starlet Turbo.

Those things are absolutely fantastic!

OT were abouts in Rochdale do you live? I grew up in Bamford.

I'm not sure what this area is called... but it's just around the corner from my mums' fiancee's old house in Balderstone... yeah, that's right... near Kirkholt

Lived in Bolton for 2 years with my Dad, and before that, Radcliffe for 18 years

:)

P.S. You posh **** :p

Are we counting the Lotus Sunbeam?

If so, that at number one. Mk1 Golf GTI, Fiat Strada Abarth, Peugeot 205GTI and Alfa Romeo Alfasud Cloverleaf in no particular order behind it.

Im posting cars that I have driven (in no order). Seems pointless listing cars that I have had no experience with:

Lancia Delta Integrale (Never knew what the hype was until I drove it)
Clio 172/182
Golf Rallye
106 GTI
Alfa 147 GTA

Clio Williams
Golf GTi (Mk1 or 2)
Peugeot 205 GTi
Clio Cup (or 172/182 at a push!)
Peugeot 306 GTi (or Rallye if you don't mind having NO toys)

Well, that's what I heard. :p

Bamford/Norden = Rich people f.t.w!

No idea about Shawfield school? I'm guessing that's in Shaw? I've only been living in Rochdale since February. Like I said, I lived in Bolton for 2 years before I moved here.

Still finding my way around the place, and I won't dare touch Rochdale town centre on a Saturday afternoon, although I'll happily drive into both Bury and Bolton without a care in the world.

Anyway, don't want to take this thread further OT, so have added you to MSN :)

Was that in reference to the Rover?

If so, maybe you should take a look at the Ford range :)

Nobody is trying to say a 200bhp Mondeo is a hot hatch though simply becuase it is hot and it is a hatchback.

I think it kind of defeats the point of a hot hatch when manufactures have to shove in 200bhp engines to cover up the fact that they are just bloated family cars.

XR2 Mk1, Chevette HSR, Nova SR, Astra GTE.

Do you think they make their cars bloated on purpose? (mk4 golf aside :o)

They have to contain so many safety devices these days that of course they're going to be heavier, and to make up for it they add more power. Plus with all the demand for "toys" in the cars then it all adds up.

Back in the Chevette / GTE days these toys weren't around so it wasn't an issue :)

Focus RS - a good candiate for a hot hatch were it not so expensive new, ST170, more warm than hot.

Ah gotcha. I can see where you're (and Agent_Smith357) are coming from now.

The 220 GSi had a brilliant engine, yet the standard suspension and brakes (while not being dangerous) were far from brilliant. :)

R5 GTT
205 GTI
Golf GTi MK1 (winner by far)
Golf GTi MK2 (only good as a 5th place riding on the back of the MK1)
Escort Cosworth (is that a hot hatch? I'm not sure TBH, a bit big I feel)

If not the Escort then the Clio cup, not been in one, but I have been told by many that its the dogs!
