Forged pistons are made out of forged steel, basically they cast in high heat and set quickly making the stronger.

Bit like tempered glass and normal glass, doesnt do anything different it's just a lot stronger so if your running high boost or high heat its not gunna go wrong.

Very expensive to buy for some reason they are very cheap to make yourself though.

I'd be interested on how you get on as I have a ST TDCI as well which I love. Thinking about chopping it for a new one in a couple of months under the Ford privledge scheme so might wait until I've done that.

What has it done to your average MPG etc?
