So I assume that if someone had been caught by an Internet antipiracy agency their accounts would have been suspended automatically?
Depends on what the ISPs Abuse policy is. However any ISP that doesnt take abuse seriously is running a VERY big risk of having a major law suite on their hands as it becomes THEIR fault that people are illegally downloading warez not the customers... so pretty much any UK ISP is going to take abuse reports to heart.
Our policy is 3 suspensions and your account is closed.
Also a worthy reminder is that its the ACCOUNT HOLDERS responsibility for what goes on with their internet connection.
If you dont want you connection used for illegal activities do not let them use it. Even if you have an unsecured wireless connection and something like child porn was downloaded using it... its YOUR fault for not securing it.
I do get to see some fascinating stuff at work such as the police requests to release data (great fun telling them no when they dont provide the necessary data release forms
) but generally the Police only do this for things such as Terrorist sites etc (which we have had a few of).
One of my favourites was a site setup on one of our hosting servers proclaiming to be an "Internet Bank - We have been running an internet bank since 1987, years of experiance.... ".
