I am having problems deciding what the best upgrade path for my system at the moment is.

I have a 754 slot AMD 3400 64 bit processor, 6800 GT (AGP) 1gb Corsair TwinX 3200 RAM and 2 74 Gb raptors in RAID0.

I have a LAN party coming up in Mid march and would like to up the performance of my machine. As far as I can work out I have three options.

1. Upgrade my 6800 GT to a 7800 GS AGP for £250 (would cost about £150 after selling the 6800 GT on e-bay)

2. Buy a 754 PCI-E motherboard and PCI-E 7800GT and sell my old mother board on e-bay, this would cost about £175

3. Wait for the AM2 slot and upgrade processor/motherboard and graphics card (later this year)

any ideas welcome

Welcome to the forums, don't go with option 1. a 7800gs is basically about the same as a 6800ultra so overclock your 6800gt and you will have saved yourself £150 not to mention the additional hassle.

2. Possible but probably not really worth it either which leaves option 3. as being the best as far as I can see :)

cheers for the comments, the upgrader in me wants to go with option 2, but I know the sensible thing to do is wait for option 3
