upgrade advice

Hi All
My brother wants to upgrad his PC, he mainly uses it for gaming (well he did but has been away for a while and wants to get back into it).

Current speck is:
MSI K8N Neo
AMD 64 3400
9800 Pro
2gb DDR

Keyboard, mouse, monitor and case are all ok for the new rig, but is there anything you would recomend to speed up his old rig or should he go down a new build? He has about £300 to spend.
