Looking to swap back over to AMD and sell off my current 6700k chip + board but not sure which chip to go for? I can grab the 2600 for about £100 cheaper than the 2700 but not 100% sure which one would give a decent performance bump over the 6700k?

I'm looking to use it for a mixture of editing + twitch streaming/games and right now the 6700k slightly struggles with the streaming side of things.

Any advice/help on which one to go for would be appreciated, 50/50 on either due to the price difference and tight budget.

Aye, I did consider the 1st gen chip but would prefer the 2nd gen one for the improvements with overall stability + RAM compatibility, planning to re-use my current DDR4 RAM which is compatible with ryzen but isn't exactly listed on any motherboard QVL sheet due to it being 2-3 years old now.

I would not go from a 6700K to a 2600 personally - nice CPUs but they are more in the league of X99 5 series 6/12 CPUs than 6-7 series Intel - 2700 would be the better choice.

If you have the budget for the R7 2700 then go with that. I just assumed you wanted to save as much as possible.

^ I do want to save as much cash as possible which is why I've been 50/50 on which one is the better buy as judging from benchmarks/review videos the 2600 is only slightly behind in performance, I think I may just wait till Friday comes knocking and see if there is any good deals on the 2700 chip.
I can in theory sell my 6700k for just shy of £200 - seems to be what they're going for used which does help to reap some cash back anyway.

Cheers for the quick responses and help with deciding what path to take, another main reason for this consideration is due to intel being a bit... iffy.. with not supporting the motherboards from previous gens like they did when they released kaby lake and made some Z170 boards redundant and only a few could update the bios to use the 7700K chips whereas AMD will be up until 2020/2021 atleast.
