Upgrading from 5820k - c£600-700 for CPU/Mobo & prob RAM

My slightly venerable 5820k system died a few days ago so I'm looking for an upgrade bundle.

PC is only rarely used for gaming, but a fair amount of photo & video work (Photoshop/Premiere/Lightroom plus a bit of Davinci).

Existing RAM is 16gb DDR4 2400, so likely a bit slow and also possible it's faulty so will probably need to replace.

Case is full tower (some huge bequiet behemoth )

I'm at least 4 years out of date on specs, so fairly clueless ....

I saw a 3900x/x570 Auros/16gb Corsair bundle for £650, which seemed OK .


Any suggestions welcome - open to used via MM here as well.

3900x, 32gb ddr 3200mhz and a b550 motherboard should be achievable for £700.

Thanks - looks like that mobo wont have enough internal sata ports, but at least the idea is in range

Any views on whether the 3900x is the best bet?

12 cores and plenty of ram should be big improvement but it mite worth looking at the 5800x as a price comparision . 4 less cores but higher single core ipc.

Check out benchmarks 3900x v 5800x in programnes you use .

Others may come along and chip in.

I would open a thread in cpu section of the forum 3900x v 5800x ? And list the programmes you use.
