Not sure why but i think there is going to be some obvious answer, but anyway.

I hear a lot of things about buying a upscaling dvd player to upscale sd-DVD. Is there some software or something similiar to do the same job on a pc? or does it already do it?

When you run something full screen your graphics card scales it to your desktop resolution.

There's a piece of software called ffdshow that takes the job away from your graphics card and scales to whatever resolution you set. It provides much better quality than you'll get from a graphics card.

Yeah make sure you select "resize and aspect" box then select native rate of your panel. I believe non native, higher than actual screen then do filters then scale down or something  I just use native.

So does ffdshow handle just the scaling or does it decode the dvds as well?

I ask because at the moment I use nvidia's purevideo to decode dvds but would like to try upscaling to see if its any better on my vx922. At a later date i'll be getting a big 'ol tv so upscaling will definately come in handy then!
