Hi, I need a new laptop. I want to buy second hand as you can get more for your money. I have been looking into MacBooks 2011-2014 ish. I’d appreciate some advice on this.

Am I right in thinking that although MacBooks hardware might not be as good as a windows laptops, (for the same price) that MacBooks are optimised to a higher standard meaning they are faster?

My price range is less than £300. I would appreciate any advice on the best value for money, MacBooks or Windows. And any advice on buying a laptop for this price.

Okay thanks, I have been looking into upgrading a Mac. The older ones look as if they do not have as much planned obsolescence and are easy too upgrade. Would you have any suggestions about buying an older laptop?

To have very smooth closing and opening applications (music based) eg Cubase (kind of like logic). Smooth video watching. Maybe some light gaming but it really isn’t a must have usually play games like world of tanks and Gmod so nothing demanding.
