The guy has played in 58 majors and never one one. He has played 100 tournaments in the US and never won one.

OK, so Mickleson blew his chance but he has proved himself capable of winning a major tournament.

Some people are just not up to winning, Monty being one of them.

Yeah! And his £30M+ prize money is scant consolation for missing out on an ill-fitting green blazer.

Maybe slightly harsh there, during the late 90's he was the most consistent and successful player on the European Tour.

But he still hasn't won a major.....

I think Monty suffers from the very British trait of "Its taking part that counts"

I think comparing anyone to Tiger Woods is futile. He's a once-in-a-generation marvel and is virtually peerless, but not invincible, as we've seen.

I think Monty has some personality traits that have stopped him stepping up to the next level, but I don't think the 'taking part' thing is one of them. To even be in the top bracket of golfers you need to have a helluva strong will to win.

He's come unbrearably close on several occasions, but such is the monkey on his back(and his age of course) it's harder for him to do it now than ever before.

If he isn't a choker then why hasn't he won a major...... Mickleson had the same tag for a long time but he overcome it, can you really see Monty winning a major?

I just don't think he has what ever it was that Mickleson "found" to win his majors.

Monty has proved in the incredible pressure of the Ryder Cup that he isn't a choker. Majors are really hard to win and the vast majority of golfers never get a sniff of one; Monty's come second in a number. Is he a great player? No, but he's a damn good one and personally, I hope he wins a Major some time, just to shut people up.
