I get a steady and reliable (unlimited) 70/20 fibre connection with Plusnet. I am using a BT HH6 router, I believe. This is now 3 years old and is beginning to be a bit unreliable with things like smart TV losing connection, forgetting my ISP username/password. My boys are quite avid data users (routinely 500Gb/month via wifi) with gaming, etc and I suspect it is cooked and getting to the end of its life.

I have ordered a Smarthub 2 from BT for £50. The provided Plusnet router is generally poor in my opinion so I have never really used it. I do not know enough to look at 3rd party specialist kit from the likes of Asus, etc. Plus, the wife doesn’t like the antennae everywhere/space ship look!

As a Plusnet fibre user on a BT Smarthub 2 router can I buy one of the discs I see online to extend my wifi range or does this require actual BT subscription or extras and how is this connected to the main router?

You can buy the discs yourself, but the Whole Home discs are not the same as the Total Wi-Fi discs - you need to buy a black one.
