Using router as a switch?

hello, i have got a question, we are with bt so we have the bthome hub, but then we where going to talk talk because you cant p2p with bt. So we got a router from talk talk (adsl) and we didnt sign for it so we dont have to get it back. But then we went back to bt because talk talk where terrible, they didnt put us live. So my question is, if i ran an ethernet cable from the bt homehub into the d link router we got from talk talk, can we use the d link as a 4 port switch???
E.g i am using ethernet cable from bthome hub into my pc, i have 2 keep putting the cable out oif my pc into 360 for xb live, could i put the cable into router and have 2 ethernet cables from the router? thanks

Just make sure that the routers DHCP server is switched off, and then yes, it will function fine as a 4-port switch.
