hi can anyone tell a really simple and easy way to save my emails to cd?
vista basic 64bit email backup

Is this using Windows Live Mail? If so, File > Export. Select a destination. You should end up with one package in the format you selected. Just burn that to CD.
Should you ever need to restore from it, just do the opposite - import the file.
