Hey.

I have been through the internet but still no luck with this so thought i would try my luck here...

My laptop has been fine for months now and displaying everything with the nice Vista Aero theme. now it has gone.. It is not anywhere in *** settings to enable or select. All i can select is the basic theme.

I have checked the following, Reg settings, Start us apps. Graphics drivers etc

I have not changed any hardware and the laptop has a 8600M 256MB graphics card.

Has anyone else had this problem and maybe found a solution.

I've also noticed this as well, having just installed 64 bit today. I cannot find the Aero theme

EDIT: Just found it

I tried this-

1) Click on the Windows logo at the lower left corner

2) Select Control Panel, and then select Personalization

3) Click on “Window Color and Appearance”

4) If you then see a row of 8 colors, you need to click on the last link, “Open classic appearance properties for more color options”

5) In the “Appearance Settings” window, under “Color Scheme,” select “Windows Aero”

6) Click on “OK”

7) Windows will then update the display properties of, well, everything.

This used to happen me when I was using a crappy Quatro NVS 280 card.

I found the quickest way was to do it from the command line:

Code:
net stop uxsms
net start uxsms

You could simply shove that in a batch file and save it to your desktop (if this problem persists and isn't just a one-off).
