You'll have it slammed in the weeds within a week and craving some 70's jap-tin by sunday.

Whats the difference between a retro ride and a cheap old banger?

A retro ride is interesting/different/very old. My car, that's a cheap old banger.

Why don't you sign up, have a look around, ask some questions and see for yourself instead of being pointlessly beligerant each time the topic arises?

Most of the cars owned by R-R regulars are neither cheap nor 'bangers'. Most are used as daily drivers.

How does a mint E30 318is on alpinas sound to you...?

Wait...You think "It's not a real BMW unless it has six cylinders."

Is it a Turbo or an ES?

I worked for a Volvo dealership back in the late 80's when these were released and I remember the Mechanics and salesman thought the ES was faster.

Apparently The turbo produces so much lag that its very quick in a straight line but not very driveable on real roads.

But this is a cheap banger, he's even said it's just a cheapo temporary car that cost him 400 quid.

    Like an old 3 Series?

    You're learning!

If it aint slammed into da weeds on 13" somethingorothers it sucks, right? :p

Its the turbo, i have spoken to a bloke who has re-mapped and played with the boost, he can get the 120bhp to 1760-170ish without affecting reliability!

It seems Volvo put nothing like the power the engine could have run, its a well known mod and has no known issues.

Its a very well known mod around the 480 forums :)
I have never driven the ES, so i cant compare the two :p
