What is this setup, a card into a card reader to logon ?

    ive seen in various offices, where you get a card with a chip on it similair to a chip and pin card, with a reader on your desk you insert the card into it to logon ?

    im wondering what its called so i can see if any on a auction site, ive been thinking goin biometric know 2003 server supported, but i wana check these options out first

    Chances are they are for use with online banking, or the new Bacstel-IP system! I install both of the mentioned systems and the card readers we use are just generic Gemplus ( gemcore ) readers. They do actually modify the login screen to enable smartcard login, but how you program the cards to do so i dont know :)

    it was to login to the pc system seen em in use at inland revenue places
