Well no, because if they were not an MP they'd not need to purchase the items for which they expense.

In theory, but we wont open that particular can of worms again. No need for a second home or a travel allowance if you don't have to go work in two places 100+ miles apart.

So you say it, but we are not allowed to comment? ;)

They need food, massive tv's and porn etc etc paid for them because of the job they do?

That is what they are paid for surely. To provide things for ones self.

With the benefits and expenses added ontop, yes they do.

http://www.parliament.uk/about/how/members/pay_mps.cfm

"The current annual salary for an MP is £64,766."

That's five figures...what are you talking about? :p

People who join The SAS?

Being accomplished at their job doesn't mean that they're necessarily all total psychopaths. They still have emotional problems to deal with and I certainly wouldn't pick that job all things considered, honourable or not!

You can't run two households on a salary of 60k a year. If you were away on business your company would pay for your accomodation, your food, and other incidental expenses.

If you were not an MP and had a normal job, you'd only need to fund one house, could drive to work every day with a normal commute, and would finish work at 5pm and be free to return to your primary home. If on any occassion you could not, you would be paid expenses accordingly.

It's just like when I travel for business - my employer pays for my accomodation, my travel, etc.

MP's virtually have to live somewhere else half the time purely as a result of the job they do. If they had to pay for that themselves why would they bother?

Would you take a job where you'd have to pay for TWO lots of living costs?!

Errr hang on I've just noticed Malc said 5 figure salary.

What? Why would you say that? Even minimum wage is a 5 figure salary. I assumed he said 6 figures because anything else would be daft.

IN AN IDEAL WORLD...

All most of you can think about is how much ****ing money you can make!!!

That saddens me greatly!

What would I like to do, well something that excites the senses I guess.
Parachute display team
Fighter pilot
Astronaught
Racing driver
Powerboat racing driver (throttle man)
Deep sea diver
Helicopter pilot.

All of it for the pure thrill of feeling alive!
