Just found this: http://tomshardware.co.uk/2005/06/07/10_mammoth_cpu_coolers/page31.html That's got me thinking about the Thermaltake sonic tower and sticking an Akasa Amber 120mm fan on it! It rates the big typhoon ahead of the tuniq tower and then the sonic tower ahead of them both!
Hmm i think they musta recieved some super duper modified Thermaltake Typhoon because,.. It doesnt win in the other reviews lol
The new scythe mine is meant to be very good .. better than their ninja anyway (which is generally considered to be one of the best / the best coolers at the moment). Google for some reviews. It is apparently much easier to fit as well.
It depends a lot on whether you want to cool using fast fans, slow fans or none at all. The Ninja is an excellent performer when cooled with no fans because of the relatively large spacing between fins. Cooling an overclocked 3000+ passively with it is easy.
I did a fair bit of searching around, and decided on a Scythe Ninja. It runs silently when I'm just surfing t'internet, or doing my BTEC coursework, and the (included!) 120mm fan kicks in when I'm gaming. Still quiet with the fan on though!
