Which car for around 2.5k mainly city car

Hi guys what car do you recommend for a car that will mainly be used around London but occasional weekend trips. Need a bit of storage. I was going to get a civic type r ep3 but it doesnt seem to be that economical after seeing how you dont get great mpg and the tax is quite expensive.

A "good" type R seems at odds with both your budget and running costs.

What about something like a Type S Civic - sensible running costs, reasonable performance and still decent looking imo
