which cpu/ram combo

Hi all,

I am looking at a couple of new systems .

The choice ( due to budget ) I have is x4 955 with ddr2 (800mhz) value range (M/board - Gigabyte GA-M770-UD3) or x2 550 with ddr3 (1333mhz) corsair brand (M/board - Msi 770 c45).

The rest of the components will be the same.

Use is mainly for gaming ( WOW & TF2 ) and general surfing.

I will not be OC at this stage.

I was wondering which combo would yield the best performance?

Better CPU with slower RAM will almost always outperform lower spec CPU with higher RAM, so I'd suggest going for the x4 option.

From the articles I've read doing benchmarks it does indeed seem that better ram only offers a small improvement, so probably go for the CPU.
