Renault have always been bad with delivery times for their RS variants (unless you are very lucky).

I ordered a new RS Clio way back and after almost 5 months, did not even have a build date! So cancelled my new car order and bought a pre reg from Renault Manchester two days later. Better colour (yellow), trade in, price and finance deal. And it's not the first new RS that I've had similar problems with, even though the RS specialist Renault dealer said "3-4 months" no problem. They all pretty much say what you want to hear and then don't give a toss once they have your order / deposit. One reason why I bought the I30N, was instant availability, picked up a week after test driving one. Actually wanted an RS Megane Trophy, but was given the usual run around when trying to order a new once.

The RS MK4 Phase 2 will now be produced all next year according to Renault. Shame waiting times are 6-8 months for new right now (Dealers quote 3-4 months so buyers do not get put off but the reality is 6-8 months from when you order a new one!). This really puts me off brand new as I want the car like yesterday if I am shelling out big money for one so this forces me to look at nearly new (which may or may not have the D.E.S.S battery issue).

Keep in mind you have the 5 year warranty carried over and I believe it does cover the battery?

When I was concerned about mind I asked if the battery is at fault, is it covered and the chap said it would be but that's as far as it went touch wood been fine since

Both lovely. Is that the key difference for the latest model? Interface stuff?

I'd say it is my only grip with the 2020. The interface just feels messy?

If that's all it is though, id probably sooner go almost new for the saving that can be had compared to new etc mileage etc dependant

From a what I've seen yeah, but I don't know whether that counts for any engine/battery changes or anything else.

Yeah definitely, kinda wild to think that new (depending on spec) they can be £35k+ but give it a year or two and you can snap it up for £25k (I guess that's standard for most new cars as soon as they role out of the dealership but still)

Liquid yellow (same colour as my RS Clio EDC was), can't beet it. Though the orange is pretty cool as well. Not a great fan of the red highlights on the wheels though.

Good info and help on the following site renaultsportclub.co.uk if anyone interested.

Yeah man it's crazy. I've never bought New, I don't know if I ever will for these reasons but that said new does net the better finance deals/packages I guess

Battery is fixed on latest model more or less I just do not want to wait if I am putting down £42K (cost to finance a new one right now) on a new one I want it like yesterday not wait 6-8 months as they only apparently run the RS production line every so often as volume is way lower (remember that video I linked for you with the actual production line on !!). That is the main reason for the delays I do not buy its to do with chip shortages as Renault would be able to bulk buy those presumably for the entire group of cars!

Thanks for the links the yellow one I would like but not sure for £36K that's a bit naughty price wise even though its only done 100 miles should be around £2K less! Supply and demand though dealer network know these cars are scarce & waiting times are long right now.

Renault have offered me £2.5K deposit contribution for a new one its so tempting but then I read the small print  so looking at another finance company as Renault will still give £2.5K as long as its a new car (does not matter which main dealer either!). So with £2.5K from Renault & £4K if I sell my existing Renault I am looking at £6.5K deposit which is pretty much 20% so as my credit is very good I can get a PCP deal which for only few hundred a month I could be driving one in a few weeks!

Or used for about £26-28K with just a £4K deposit still gets me a 1-2 year old RS300 :) But still waiting for the onboarding for my new job to complete so cannot sign the finance paperwork until it goes through :(

That yellow 2021 one is avoid unless you have the cash already! They want 9.9% APR  & no Renault £2.5K deposit contribution either (although I expect the dealer is pocketing this instead :(). If your credit is excellent you can get 5.9% APR elsewhere & the £2.5K Renault deposit contribution ;) nice car otherwise if you have £36K cash!

Are they passing it off as used?

The Renault dealer I went with was 9.9% too, think it's their default on used stock.

So I used Lloyds again as I did with my last one. On their calculator it was saying 6.4% but once I signed in with my online banking and put the actual reg in, you get a proper personalised quote and APR went down to 4.4% so went with that.

Obviously miss out on dealership deal like 2 year servicing and a £250 contribution at that time.

Definitely worth shopping about :)

Yeah definitely, price is a little steep :p

Looks like this one is back on the market, only 'sold' a few weeks ago, looks like the customer returned as same dealer selling again.

9.9 % is massive another main renault dealer I looked at earlier was 11.9%!!!!

Found one good deal 5.9% and for another £70 per month on top you get lifetime insurance & maintenance contract! You need to have a very high credit rating to get this though (fortunately I do!) but always check the small print as many of these deals partially disguise that when your PCP ends you still need to pay 25% of the cars value to actually own it! I want one which includes a zero final payment which is slightly harder to find but they do exist!!

That's the one I originally enquired about! The dealer was AWFUL in terms of putting on pressure and definitely making up tales to try and encourage you to make a holding deposit. Literally all they wanted to do was make out some one else was about to test drive it, unless I put a hold deposit down over the phone.

Literally the most put off I've ever been when looking for a car. Didn't even go and view in the end as they gave a poor impression.

Was the cheapest one on AT at the time though, which was attractive as it doesn't look bad! Higher mileage than others but otherwise looks good

Oof, didn't realise that one the one in question haha.

I guess that's what must have happened to the other buyer and now the dealer has the car back :p

Not sure if its re-listed for a cheaper price though? can't remember what they had it at before

I will see what the finance is on that one its a good price although miles are a little high but these cars do not hang around for long especially with the summer coming up!

Some of these main dealers though are taking the absolute mickey 11.9% APR is excessive even 9.9% is way too much for a car which is going to suffer medium depreciation. Think the best way to finance one is your own bank or a leasing specialist not affiliated with the main dealer network (they all seem pretty similar PCP contract wise although some are really pushing things to the limits with the creative ways they disguise you still need to pay another 25-30% to ever own the vehicle even after paying 11.9 or 9.9% APR!! I feel really sorry for anyone who signs one of those without looking into it a little more deeply as they also get hammered for maintenance & excessive mileage fees.

I didn't know PCP had a variant that didn't require a balloon, assumed that's par for the course with this route ;)

One to avoid then!!

None of these dealers have much integrity (but loads of The Apprentice level sales aggression!) I had one cold call me earlier from a main dealer trying to talk me into the new deal they have (its actually an old deal but he insisted it was new!) around the Renault £2.5K deposit contribution (which is clearly because they are trying to shift new cars from old stock after all the lockdowns!).

At the end of the day if you cannot find the car you want for the price you want then you have to just be patient sooner or later if its meant to be it will happen!!
