This morning, everytime I restart my work PC I get this message

"since windows was first activated on this computer the hardware on the computer has changed and you need to re-activate Windows XP"

I haven't made any hardware changes since yesterday. Its also lost the coloured task bar and is now old fashioned grey.

    Is this a virus?

Sorry - I haven't made any hardware changes at all.

I can access the internet through our network but can't access the files on the network. I've tried to look in device manager to see if the network card has a warning flag and the device manager comes up blank.

When I'm asked to activate windows it won't do it online (yet I can access the internet)

Just phone up and re-activate it. Takes a couple of minutes and it's all automated.
