Ok trying to set up virtual server on my pc run ipconfig/all and have set a static ip of 192.168.1. xxx
but the gateway is showing as 192.168.3.xxx I have installed Domain server but it comes back with 255.255.255.0 is not the correct subnet - should the gateway be 192.168.1.xxx to match the first 3 sets of the static ip?

If so why is my default gateway showing as a .3 and not a .1 all of the equipment I have attached or via wifi .. have the 192.168.3.xx extensions DHCP has assigned them.

255.255.255.0 is the typical subnet mask for any 192.168.x.x network.

192.168.3.0 is a different network to 192.168.1.0 so if the devices were connected directly (without a router) they couldn't talk to each other.

Can you put the server on 192.168.3.x?
