I think the things like this should be shown on the news and hopefully people will get a better idea on what really goes on over there. After all its the reality of war and should be viewed by everyone. Also i think this kind of stuff should be shown in the US as well and hopefully the people there will also get a better picture of what really goes on. Another example no one in the media would ever show a picture of a dead british soldier lying on the ground dead, but will happily show a dead iraqi and so on double standards there dont you think.

Its a little thing called propaganda ;)

Besides, not everyone needs to view graphic violence to be repulsed.

Exactly. Be more anti-war if pictures of babies blown in two/WP burns on TV..

the british are a nation of prudes ?

says it all that most europen countries have hardcore porn openly for sale

in this country R18 can only be bought in licensed sex shops and on the internet

in spain / germany / france / italy etc.. they're all for sale at your local newsagent and have been for years

hard core porn has only been legal at all in this country in the past couple of years. Before that everything had to be imported cloak and dagger style from abroad.

The freedom of the UK press is the envy of most other countries. Taking a look at the Economists facts on this, we have the 4th most-free press in the world.

Maybe the news isn't as liberal in what they show as our EU counterparts, but I for one like it that way. Can't say I've ever thought to myself that I've wanted to see someone have their head cut off while I eat.

I dont think that no other TV channel would have shown what Anna Kournikova did on nation TV like the BBC did so its not that sensored in some respects ;)

Whats with the news always reporting most of the bad in the world, sure if something happens say it but theres no need for all the details and images or to go on about it for weeks.

The public don't want or need to see the grisly details of war.

They should be, be less wars if people bothered to see just how much suffering it causes. Easy for americans to say "kill all in ME" after 9/11...until see mass WP of kids/babies. ie scene vietnam kid running down the road...pivotal moment in journelism.

I do see what you're getting at, but I can't say I agree. Wars, they happen. I don't think anything's going to stop them, and opening up the mainstream media and filling it with imagery like the OP would like to see, would most likely just fill the world with even more hatred, imho.

Because a large amount of people are ignorant, stupid and hateful, and will be happily spoonfed any story the media would like to attach to the images/footage they're shown.

Also, I really don't believe it's healthy to have imagery like the OP would like to see shoved in your face every evening as you settle down to eat your dinner.

If you want to see this stuff, you can find it. It doesn't need to be paraded around in the mainstream media.

lol i know curiousity makes me want to watch it

Im the same, but id rather not see someone get beheaded by a blunt blade while eating my tea. Seeing a guys neck squirt blood and then hear him choke as they go through his widepipe is not something i want to hear on a daily basis on the news.

I can stomach it easily, i just dont want to see it.
