Windows 10 upgrade from 8.1

Not sure if I'm technically allowed to ask this on here so apologies if anything.

I currently have Windows 8.1 and want to upgrade to Windows 10. It's my wife's photo editing computer and I do not want to mess anything up in the process.

Am I able to still upgrade to Windows 10 by using my 8.1 key or do I need to purchase a new key?

If I can use the 8.1 key, do I just download the installer tool and follow instructions or do I need to do anything different or extra?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Check and run the upgrade assistant, I have done it on my windows 7 pc's with no loss of data. You might want to back anything important up before you try the upgrade. I am sure it will be fine as many people will tell you on here who have done just this. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 Your old key should be fine and activate ok.

It should be fine mate. As I said just back up any important stuff just in case.
