My 9700Pro died. On a 3Ghz (478) P4 with 1GB I have a choice to replace it with a 9800pro or bite the bullet and go for a 6800GS. A 9800 is about a third the cost. I mainly want it for sims stuff like FS/IL2/FALCON/SHIII and perhaps the odd FPS. This in a 1280x1024 TFT. I usually have AA off. I don't really have the funds to replace the whole PC.

Did your 9700pro play games sufficiently well for you to be happy? If yes then I'd go with the 9800pro, save the money and use it for your next full upgrade, if not then look at getting the 6800gs.

For the games you play, 9800pro.

I just got a second hand 6600GT of bay £60 and it made a massive difference from my 9550.

From what I have read and been told it is better then the 9800pro.

I would suggest the 6600GT for the cost.
