Worth the upgrade?

Between i7 and AMD I prefer I7 seen I am intel fanboy . Between i7 vs i5 I think i7 main have better potential to upgrade later, it worth the extra money.

there may be more upgrade potential to hex cores etc, but they will be so expensive, making the upgrade path excessive. i had the option of i7 and i5 and i chose i5. its less overkill for games, and its money that can be saved for the next upgrade when lga 1366 and 1156 become eol next year

I have bought CPU's, motherboards and graphics cards off the bay and never had a problem with any of them. I got a Used Pentium dual core E2140 1.6Ghz once that overclocked to a whopping 3.6Ghz!! It only cost me £17 as well. If you go for a Q9550 make sure it's a E0 stepping.
