X370 Killer SLI network issue

I've spent ages trying to find a solution to this problem online and tried most things apart from flashing the bios but I can't really see how that will help considering it's worked for the last 18 months or so with no issues and suddenly stopped.

I'm thinking the easiest solution would just be to buy a separate PCI network card, any suggestions?

I've tried changing & updating the drivers, that worked for a couple of days but it just reads that there is no cable plugged in to the ethernet socket. I've tried other cables that I know are working but now the even the lights next to the socket on the motherboard are not on and reading online it sounds like a common problem and it just will not detect that there is a cable plugged in at all.
